The Science Behind Female Ejaculation
Proper discussion and research on female sexuality and in particular, female ejaculation has been a long time coming. Female ejaculation is often dismissed as myth and mainly attributed to loss of bladder control at the time of orgasm. This is of course still true for some cases, but not all.
Laboratory analysis of fluid expelled from a small group of females who claim to experience female ejaculation tells a different story. A recent report, Everything you always wanted to know about female ejaculation (but were afraid to ask) in New Scientist describes how researchers found significant quantities of the protein prostate-specific antigen (PSA) present in in the fluid. Prostate cells in the male prostate gland produce PSA which is present in serum and semen.
Ultrasounds of the women who experienced female ejaculation showed evidence of a structure surrounding the urethra that is similar to the male prostate gland. The area of the female prostate is located near the G-Spot and is most sensitive to sexual arousal. It appears that stimulating the G-Spot also stimulates the female prostate resulting in ejaculation.

It’s called the para-urethral gland! (or Skene’s gland in some books).
I think the gland goes into “overdrive” during clitoral and/or gspot stimulation, the fluid gathers in the pubic sponge & the contractions associated with a climax expell the fluid out of the urethra, sometimes forcibly enough to make it spurt out.

Thanks for your response. Yes, the article does refer to the homologous structure (female prostate) being called the Skene’s gland or paraurethral gland. The New Scientist article points out that the, “…Skene’s glands or the paraurethral glands, in 2001 the Federative Committee on Anatomical Terminology officially renamed these structures the “female prostate”.” It seems that the amount of tissue varies in women and explains why some experience more intense orgasms than others.

Hmmm, there’s something very masculine about the prostate, I’m not sure that I want to be associated with that particular gland!!
I know they (the boffins) are merely making a comparison, but the very term “female ejaculation” gives the process a girly touch!

Hi Jools,
Thats an interesting perspective, but I don’t really see it as a masculine/femine issue. After all, the clitoris is homologous to the penis. Yet, we don’t think that as being at all masculine!
