BBC News – Inside Pope Observatory

This is another example of how mainstream media placates to established religion. The BBC video clip on the BBC News Science and Nature section of their website features the Pope’s observatory at his home just outside Rome. The video explains how “for Catholics, it is where science and religion meet.” The Catholic scientists we are told, say that astronomy does not contradict a belief in God. The vast majority of Fellows of the Royal Society and National Academy who do not believe in any God would beg to differ. To embrace science, you have to let go of scripture, because scripture is wide open to interpretation of ancient text and is faith based whereas science is based on observation and evidence.
